Haro,
Today I would like to talk about gaming backlog. I believe that clearing the gaming backlog is the hardest task that every gamer has to face, but mostly gave up halfway through the battle. And you bet, it is affecting me as well. I am always thinking about how to tackle this once and for all, and to be able to manage and control it, all no thanks to the OCD-ish mind of mine.
I have tried tons of different ways to beat the gaming backlog in the past. At one time, I would rotate my games on daily basis. I wrote down my gaming schedule and play different games everyday. I felt very good actually for a while, like I am really clearing my backlog at a fast rate. But then I felt like I had to remember what I was doing everytime I change game, and it is not fun to do that. The most extreme one was where I was playing 6 different games in a day. 1 for PS4, 1 for PC, 1 for PSVita, and 3 Android games. Sounds exhausting, yes? Because it was. It didn't last for long, I can tell you that much.
Nowadays, I just accepted the fact that nobody in this world can clear their gaming backlogs. There will be games that you spend your own hard-earned money on but will not going to be played at all. So don't buy games anymore. Say it with me, don't buy games anymore, don't buy games anymore. Good. Actually, don't listen to me LOL. Of course you can buy games, but only after you finish your backlog first. At least play the good ones and sell the others that you don't want to play. Don't waste time on mediocre game just because you own them. Just focus on the good games. When you don't have anything else to play, only then you should be buying more games. And only those on sales. Don't buy newly released games or pre-order games. There will be future patches and DLCs for it anyway. Plus, you won't be playing it right away, it will be kept in pristine condition in your shelf, just look at your backlogs for proofs. Just buy GOTY games on a sale and play it right away, don't buy just to keep it.
As for me, I am doing a fresh start myself. I have kids now and less time for gaming. My wife and I agreed that I can play games with no interruptions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. I will focus on PS4 games and PSVita games. I put all my past generation games under my bed and forget about them. SNES, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3, everything. I have completed Bloodborne and Uncharted 4, so next I will play Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. I have borrowed a few games from friends but looks like I will need to return them without ever touching them. During my gaming nights, I will play Overwatch with abangganaz clan. When the kids are using the TV, I will switch to PSVita and remote play to PS4 to play PS+ free games. I will sneak it a 30 minutes quick play of PSVita game Persona 4 The Golden before sleep. During the weekend when the wife is away working, then I will play Borderlands or Overwatch with abangganaz if they are around. That is my 2017 plan to clear my gaming backlog. Happy New Year!
